I just found out that I will not be getting the stimulus as my wife is cannot get a SSN. In addition, we will not be getting stimulus amount for our American born daughter.
We have been here for a year and a half and while there are some benefits to being in America, my wife and I are trying hard to understand why we moved here from Canada (saving taxes is no benefit when compared to having to deal with ignorance all around). My being here is benefiting an American company (which did not have the expertise that I brought to them and this country) and thereby this country.
If I were to leave the company, a number of people would lose their jobs and I would take my expertise somewhere else.....
Is it true that almost everything done in America is poorly planned and lacks foresight and common sense? Our experience here to date is giving us this impression.....
I would be interested in joining with others against the IDIOTS who don't understand who is benefitting this country.

If you filed early May and received a Notice of Receipt from USCIS, that means your I-485 is already in process, and you have been assigned an Alien Number already. The announcement from INS is very clear, "Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference cases". This is like telling passengers to move to the other side of the boat when it starts sinking one side. The outcome is only making the boat sink faster. Remember, the huge backlogs are not completely due to unavailable visa numbers.
Unless there is a real need, moving from EB3 to EB2 dont make much sense.
If your case is EB2 worthy. It makes a lot of sense. I have many friends who did that and they have their GCs now. While I'm rotting in this mess... my fault: I didn't convert to EB2 which I could have.

The word on the street is that the Cantwell amendment is not a part of the list of amendments that are currently floating around in Senate offices. There are 20 of them.
Even Bernie Sanders has one more coming (Yes, it is related to H1B). But Cantwell amendment is not there in the list of 20.

In my home country, you are *supposed* to list your age on your resume. I am not kidding. They don't consider your resume if you don't put your age there. If I go back there in few years from now (I am 34 now), I am not sure I would be successful there anymore.

I already submitted the paperwork to resume the sucker MBA this Fall and pay the whole thing from my pockets. Either that or I should trigger AC21 very soon.
If the October visa bulletin shows EB3 World stagnated or retrogressed, you can bet a Starbucks coffee I will be looking for another job/AC21 very fast.
Some people advise to wait and watch and some people ask to do something else. I would like to say one thing and it is purely my perspective. People who are waiting inline for 8-10years does not know when they will be getting their GC in hand. May be in next four to five years. By that time on average their age will be around 35-45.
Do you want to wait 4-5 years and do the job which you were doing 10years back?
Did you had any vision for your career when you started your GC and life?
Do you have the same vision now for your career and life?
Did you feel you and your family have sacrified enough in your personel life for this stupid GC?
IF YOU SAY I HAVE DECIDED TO GO BACK TO MY HOME COUNTRY:
Do you think you will get a managerial job if you go back to india at the age of 40 when you could see guys @30 doing that job with ease and with better experience?
Do you think becos of 10+years of expereince in programming field, indian companies will recruit you for managerial job?
Are you willing to work in India as a programmer with 10+ years of US exp under a 25-30 year old team lead or PM ?
If you say YES , YES , YES for all the above, do you think any indian company will recruit a programmer at the age of 40? forget about the salary you are going to ask for your exp which they will never accept.
So at the end if you wait long enough for GC, then it is better to wait here until you get it. At least you can save your life though you have to start your career from -10years. If you quit and decide to go back to your homecountry, your life is going to be tough.

With a due respect, I am differ with your statement on Competeamerica. Competeamerica has always promoted H1B and EB provision together. I haven't seen any time that they promoted only H1B.
I spoke with one guy at Competeamerica and he told me that IV is neutral on H1B issue eventhough all members have came through that root. Personally I am very positive with Competeamerica and it is not good for us to speak negative for this organization.
I know CA promotes both , but issue is whether they do that equally.
I have a feeling h1b is more on agenda.

When you say these are the " ONLY REASONS", you should think twice. If your wife delivered baby on that day or if you had back surgery a week ago probably you would not be been in DC for the rally. Now that CIR is defeated again for nth time, We really need to consider rethinking about our stratergy,
I guess we are about 15K membership and if we include spouse and take a guess every one in five has dependent kid to join (wild gusstimate) we come close 35-40K approximately.

I wasn't trying to undermine the role iv had in the flower campaign. All I was trying to suggest is that initially some opposition did exist and once it gathered momentum on its own iv supported it whole heartedly which led to it's success. I was only comparing it to the "we fast while you feast" idea. I m the one who proposed it and will gladly shove it in the dustbin if there is some solution to our common suffering.Lets not undermine IV's efforts in promoting the flower campaign. Hi - I have had a very bad experience with Fragomen, everything was filed correctly but the way they treat their client is pathetic. I have heard a lot of people are victims of this big corporation, lets get together to fix this.I had used their service once when i was in L2.They were the attorneys for my wife's corporation and my wifes corp files their visa extension only just before it expires.I was on L2EAD and the safer bet would have been to file atleast with the same petion extension for my ead extension.They charged about 1000 dollars,but i dont know how,i got my new EAD card and receipt notice together.But the L1 extension notices were received after about a week of receipt of ead.EAD was still far ahead of the processing time at vermont service center.
I still doubt filing thru attorneys makes things work out quicker.
My first EAD (used an attorney) in L2 was approved in about 65 days.Extension got approved in less than 20 days.Currently i am on L1 and my wife on l2.I applied online for her EAD and it is almost 80 days .No updates yet.
