PBS launched a wonderful new series this evening entitled Faces of America which examines the family history of 12 notable figures in contemporary America. The figures profiled are diverse and include Dr. Mehmet Oz, Meryl Street, Kristi Yamaguchi, Malcolm Gladwell Stephen Colbert and Yo-Yo Ma. I was pleased to see Mike Nichols on the list. I applied to VSC on Sept 17,2008 and still waiting. USCIS website as of Aug 31,2008 saying processing application as @ Jan 15,2008. Does not know how long the wait can be.

I just got my labor cleared. EB3.
I need to get the I140 processed
Any idea how much time it generally takes for this to process.
The reason I'm asking is because my h1 needs to be processed in April and if this I140 gets cleared before that, I can get my h1 extension for 3 years.

Once you file it usually take 1-2 months.But you have premium processing for I140 now,you can have result in two weeks.So don't worry ..just talk to your attorney.

Recently my 140 was filed and the checks were cashed through ACH. I paid for PP and see that the checks were cashed on March 8th. My attorney has not received my receipt, I was wondering if there was anyway I can get the receipt number for the case so I can track it ...

If Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refuses to bring articles of impeachment against President Bush to the floor of the House, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan said Monday, Sheehan not only will challenge the Speaker in the next election but also will defeat her.
Discussing President Bush and Vice President Cheney, Sheehan said, �We put them there. We can fire them. If Nancy Pelosi doesn't do her constitutionally mandated job by midnight tonight, tomorrow I will announce that I'm going to run against her.
�And not only am I going to run against her, but I will beat her,� Sheehan added.
A spokesman for Pelosi, Nadeam Elshami, said the Speaker and House Democrats are working toward their goals this Congress and would not address Sheehan�s proclamation.
�The Speaker and House Democrats are focused on ending the war in Iraq, holding the Bush administration accountable and delivering a new direction for the American people,� Elshami said.�Those are the priorities of the Speaker and the Democrats.�
Sheehan seized the anti-war spotlight during her extended protest outside the president�s ranch in Crawford, Texas in 2005, after her 24-year-old son, Casey, was killed in Iraq. Speaking at a demonstration at Arlington National Cemetery, Sheehan argued that it is Pelosi�s constitutional obligation to impeach the president.

Sheehan and about 200 other protesters had walked to Conyers' office from Arlington National Cemetery. She said Conyers told her there weren't enough votes for impeachment to move forward on the issue.
Forty-five of Sheehan's fellow protesters also were arrested. Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said that after they are processed, the arrested activists could each pay a $50 fine to be released.

Many of us repeatedly repeated the same repeating mesage to attend DC rally so that it can repeat in the EARS of all repeatedly whining GC seekers visiting repeatedly every immigration website repeatedly thinking that their GC will come some day. Firstly, I would like to apologize for my ignorance & starting a new thread on this topic. I have some questions on porting & hopefully you learned people would help me on this.
1. When is the actual PD porting done? Is it done at I-140 stage?
2. I have I-485 filed in EB3-I. Now, I do my labor in EB2 & then at the time of applying I-140 do I tell USCIS that I have an old EB3 with PD of Nov 2004?
3. Say I do that, will USCIS automatically change my category on my pending I-485?
4. When I filed my I-485 in EB3, I was single. Now I am married. If USCIS automatically adjudicates my pending application, I believe, I will be in soup since my wife is not included in that. So should I (or the attorney) tell them NOT to adjust category on my pending I-485 instead I file a new I-485 under EB2?

After we have filed for 485 and lets say we (me and my spouse) receive our EAD's. If I quit my job after 6 months of filing, can my spouse (secondary applicant) continue to renew her EAD's or would she have problems since I (the primary applicant) is no longer working for the company and maybe working for myself?

Hi Folks
My wife was working in India all this time and I am in US. H1 expires end of 2010. I believe I used up my extension .
I got my EAD and AP already after I filed for my 485 under Eb2.
My Question is , how long can she go on H4 ? Only till my H1. If she comes to US on H4 can I file her EAD or do I have to wait for the category to be current to do so .

Need advice on how to reopen a bia appeal. We have vacated an aggravated felony Sept 25 that precluded any relief. Ninth circuit review pending and im seeking an extension on the opening brief until I find out bia status. The question I have is if i should just use IAC as an argument or just try to reopen based on a material change? I dont want to open a "can or worms" but the attorney throughout the 5 year court proceedure never advise to vacate or any post conviction remedies. Bia appeal decision Apr 29/09 is past the ninty days.

I have another dumb question.
If you apply for COS from US for conversion from H4 to F1 and if the course study falls under TAL then will the COS procedure will take more than normal time? Have anyone experienced this before?
