Dear members,
It is time now to do a massive mother of all media campaigns and inform every reporter, TV station, Radio station, Magazine and newspaper in this country about the rally.
We start this campaign now and we will continue it until Monday. Media publicity is very important for the success of the rally. IV is already doing an email campaign to hundreds of immigration reporters today. (Ps.This list was compiled by few IV volunteers from various forums and threads. It will not be made public. So if you have any such list do not post on IV.)
Here is what we want everyone to do:
1) Someone pls draft a cover letter/Letters and post on this thread. We need several such letters so that all emails look different.
2) Copy paste press releases from
touchdownusa.org/RallyCentral/WashingtonDCRallyPressRelease.html
//http://www.touchdownusa.org/RallyCentral/WashingtonDCRallyPressRelease.html
//http://www.touchdownusa.org/RallyCentral/WashingtonDCRallyPressRelease.pdf
//http://www.touchdownusa.org/RallyCentral/WashingtonDCRallyPressRelease.doc
3) Go to the site-
http://capwiz.com/aila2/dbq/media/
and search for various media offices and people in various states and start sending them emails with the press release.
4) If you already know of other media offices, go to their websites and email them.
5) Do a Google search for ' press release distribution'. Go to each site, create a quick account and submit the press release. This will ensure that internet will be flooded with our rally press releases and more people will know about it.
6) If you want to call media offices, then start calling them. You will get phone numbers from
http://capwiz.com/aila2/dbq/media/
Thanks

SO,can we all try to get the unused visas recaptured.If they can do that for nurses and physical therapists ,they can do that to decrease retrogression.I dont think they require senate approval.
Something is better than nothing.Lets push for recapture of unused visas.

I don't understand how they calculate PD dates?
Can anyone help me here please?
Thanks
You just asked the million dollar question. I can tell you with close to a certainty that no one here can give you a 100% correct answer.

I had called my congressman & the senators from my state.
They didnt know anything about this so I requested them to study Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren s statement along with telling them my story - expenses, time lost, travel cancelled etc.

Thanks!. There were some skeptics on IV Forums who didn't believe that USCIS worked over weekend to approve 25,000 visas. :mad: Some people genuinely believed that USCIS made a clerical error in calculating visa number or some other nonsense excuse. Those who don't believe that this indeed is a scandal,should read Logiclife's excellent analysis on June 29th where he explains -how retrogression is NOT possible.
When we believe how it was not possible, and suddenly it did happen-of course things get clear.

Transformation program is randomly processing applications to thier liking and ignoring priority date, FIFO etc ... From this chaos, order generates itself. Kind of testing Chaos theory. :D

USCIS takes two steps(2 years) forward than takes three steps(3 years) backwards. When it takes forward steps, it confuses everybody by it's stupidness of approving later PD cases and than moves backwards after realizing it's blunder. In this whole process, we spend time analyzing, debating, chatting on what USCIS will do next but they throw all our logic out the window and go their own way. This whole process sucks!!!!
You see in the real world everything moved 1 year ahead from October 2007 to October 2008. So in USCIS world also it moved by 1year.

Check the forums for a link to a document that indicates that Banks do accept EAD, etc.
I have refinance with BoA and it went thru just fine. I tried to find the correct link but haven't found it yet. If i do, i'll send it across.
But do a forum search for refinance, etc.

H4+ I-485 pending still is a valid status. Now what rules they have regarding approving the loan to someone who is not working (because of H4 status) is something I am unaware of and not immigration related, I guess.
But if you are going to send them a copy of your I-485 application, that should mean SOMETHING in their eyes.
Do let us know how it goes. It will also be helpful to others in your situation. Good luck!
Thank you Mr. Hammer.
My question was about H4 + 485 pending? Then what is the status? I have earlier given EAD, but they did not accept that. I am submitting 485 receipt with A#. Let me see how it goes.

Hello Onemay,
I live in Minneapolis. I too am on H4.Same thing happened to both my husband and myself here last October.We had moved recently from Indiana and the DMV said they won't issue new licenses for both myself and my husband (it doesn't matter if u r on H1 or H4)until we give the extended I94. We had our Indiana licences also canceled .We didn't know what to do and then we enquired some of our friends and came to know that if we show our original USCIS Receipts for Extension filed they give ur license for 6 months from the USCIS Receipt Date. So we did that and got our extension until April. U have to show the Original Receipt ,No Xerox .And now we got our extension papers and reapplied for a new license and got it. May be u too can enquire about this,because I think all DMVs tend to follow similar rules.
This is true. I went through this process several times in Minneapolis.

First of all why do U wanna ask that? Its an employment based visa that ur GC is based on. So, ur employer shud ask that. Why are u asking IVans to do something which is not in their control??? I keep getting red and dont mind if I'm banned. But excuse me...u r misleading IVans. My point is this. We can protest, rally based on the delay. Thats pretty much we can do. Inquiring into a Government agency's internal affairs is none of ur business. And I repeat u dont have any rights to do that as u have NO direct link to USCIS. U have applied thru ur employer and ur employer shud speak for u. Do u even get it? Ur statements and arguments have no logic whatsoever and misleading.
I tend to disagree on this. Sorry about that. What you are saying may be true until the case is in LC phase or perhaps, I140 phase. Beyond that, I BELIEVE (correct me if I ma wrong and dont jump on me) that the individual can deal with USCIS as far as queries are concerned. May be, if there was a RFE, then the employer/attorney should dela with. But not queries.
If not, why is USCIS even responding to queries on 485. Are they doing something that they shouldn't be doing??

Thanks sy. I fully agree it's the agent we deal with. My BOA loan coordinator is extremely stubborn & doesn't have any clue regarding immigration. From day 1 she is stuck on unexpired I-94 & till today she asks me to furnish that. Is it possible that I can contact you or any of your friends through email / phone & discuss to check where I am going wrong. I can furnish my contact details if needed.
DCU is the way to go. To get membership, you may have to donate a few dollars to some group and become a member, before you can open an account. Their rates are competitive, and closing costs are "very decent". 90% of the stuff can be done over ph/fax/email. The best thing that my friend said was even without 20% down payment, his PMI (private mortgage insurance) was a mere 30 dollars (for a 220k home).

Is the SJC convening on 27th to discuss immigration reform? Do you have any more details? The website talks about voting rights?
I just got this off the Immigration-law website"The Chairman Specter called Executive Committee business meeting on April 27, 2006, Thursday, and it is anticipated that the debate on the Judiciary Committee's redrafting of the comprehensive immigration reform bill may take a center stage. Please stay tuned"
